Five Twin Cities firms made the annual list of the 50 best law firms for women by Working Mother Magazine.
The firms were recognized for their practices in retaining and promoting women attorneys.
The firms are scored on among other factors: workforce representation, time off and leaves, child care, flexibility, leadership, compensation and advancement of women and development and retention of women.
The local firms on the list are:
Dorsey & Whitney
The firm was highlighted for its generous paid leave policy for parents who have a child or adopt. Attorneys have the option of working a 60 percent schedule for up to three months when they return.
Faegre Baker Daniels
The firm offers the Women’s Forum for Achievement that provides programs for women lawyers, with educational sessions, discussion groups and workshops that cover success strategies, sponsorship and mentoring.
Fredrikson & Byron
Last year women were 46 percent of the associates and 32 percent of the partners involved in internal management and leadership training.
Leonard, Street and Deinard
The firm has nearly doubled the number of female attorneys since 2009.
Lindquist & Vennum
The firm was praised for its flexible scheduling. Working part-time, taking family leave, telecommuting or switching off and on the partnership track does not derail an attorney’s progress.
