Gov. Mark Dayton appointed Patrick R. Rohland as District Court Judge in Minnesota’s 5th Judicial District. Rohland will be replacing the David W. Peterson, who retired earlier this year. The judgeship will be chambered at Redwood Falls in Redwood County.

Rohland currently serves as the Redwood Falls City Attorney, where he handles all aspects of criminal prosecutions as well as civil matters for the city. Rohland received his B.A. with honors from Minnesota State University – Moorhead and his J.D. with honors from the William Mitchell College of Law.

“Throughout his accomplished legal career, and in his long-held commitment to public service, Mr. Patrick Rohland has demonstrated that he is well-prepared to take on the responsibilities of District Court Judge,” said Gov. Dayton in a release announcing the appointment. “I am confident that Mr. Rohland will commit himself to the highest standards of justice as he takes on this new role in Minnesota’s Fifth Judicial District.”

Rohland lives with his family in Redwood Falls.

Minnesota’s Fifth Judicial District consists of Blue Earth, Brown, Cottonwood, Faribault, Jackson, Lincoln, Lyon, Martin, Murray, Nicollet, Nobles, Pipestone, Redwood, Rock, and Watonwan counties.
