Short to leave Dorsey

Marianne Short is leaving Dorsey & Whitney, where she is theglobal managing partner, to join UnitedHealth Group as its Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer, effective January 1, 2013.

 Short joined Dorsey & Whitney in 1977, left to serve as a judge on the Court of Appeals  from 1988 to 2000, and returned to Dorsey as a partner in 2000.  In 2007, Short was named global Managing Partner of the Firm.

Short is widely viewed as having successfully steered Dorsey through the recession that hit the legal profession hard.

Additionally, as one of the most influential women in the legal community, Short used her influence to advocate for women in the legal profession.
