Revenue Growth Modest at Many Firms, But Profits Surge

Law firms struggling to keep their key financial statistics on the upswing have found that one sure way to boost their numbers is to shrink or restructure. But after several years of searching for savings, many firms have already made their operations about as lean as possible. Having laid off associates in droves a few years ago, firms are increasingly showing underperforming partners the door, say law firm consultants. Among California firms, Silicon Valley seems to be a happy exception to the shrinkage trend.
